Hello again and happy 2014!
IBM Entrepreneur Week is now just a few weeks away, taking place February 3-7, 2014. This one-of-a-kind event will feature virtual and in-person opportunities to learn from and network with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, academic leaders, IBM executives and IBM Business Partners. There's no better place to connect with entrepreneurs and find out what it takes to build and maintain a successful startup ... and there's no better time to register!
Take a look at what we've got planned:
IBM Online Bash: Monday, February 3rd
The week kicks off with an Online Bash featuring a virtual coffee break where entrepreneurs and IBM executives can network in small groups, and continues with breakout sessions, roundtables and speakers to educate and inspire innovators and entrepreneurs from around the world. The online session is organized around three tracks:
1. Growing Your Business in a Social World
2. Women Entrepreneurs
3. Academic Excellence
IBM Global Entrepreneur Day: Tuesday, February 4th
Entrepreneur Day will be a ground-breaking series of in-person events taking place at IBM Innovation Centers around the world to engage startup communities together with experts to discuss the convergence of cloud, big data and mobile and how it's impacting the entrepreneur community. These events will include local ecosystem speakers, mentoring and subject matter experts.
IBM Mentor Me - Virtual Mentoring: Wednesday, February 5th
Entrepreneur Business Partners will get a chance to participate in four virtual mentoring tutorials about: Protecting your IP, Wants and Needs of VCs, The Six-Minute Pitch and Tech Talking. Top leaders from venture firms, entrepreneur and academic communities, industry consultants and experts will be mentoring and answering questions.
IBM SmartCamp Finals 2013: Thursday, February 6th
Part 1: Don't Just Survive, Thrive!
Every entrepreneur knows that after you reach your first summit, there is always another hill to climb. Join us at the Le Meridien in San Francisco to listen to startup stories about the many hills to climb-from early growth, through rapid growth to stable continuity. If you have your own story, we want to hear it! In this interactive session, you will have a chance to speak up and share your startup "war story"-the challenges you've faced, how you've solved problems, and the challenges you are facing now.
Part 2: Realize Tomorrow, Today
After sharing stories about "the good, the bad and the ugly" of creating a startup, head over to The Bently Reserve next door to listen to a rapid-fire pitch competition including eight SmartCamp startup finalists from around the world: Coriell Life Sciences, Geekie, Nova Lumos, OnFarm, Reengen, Shopa, Temando, and TMC. One will be dubbed as IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year. While the judges decide, listen to a fireside chat including top notch venture capitalists and serial entrepreneurs with a special guest keynote, Eric Ries, who will inspire the audience. You won't want to miss the excitement as this year's winner is chosen! Attend in person or via live stream and VOTE for your choice! Join the conversation using #IBMSmartCamp!
IBM Entrepreneur THINK Friday: Friday, February 7th
Join us for our inaugural edition of THINK Friday, a quarterly series of one-hour webcasts about the evolving state of business. Our premiere episode highlights key insights from IBM Entrepreneur Week, featuring industry leaders discussing:
1. The Collaborative Economy
2. The Revenue Model & Making Money
3. Taking it to the Next Level in a Collaborative Economy
So what are you waiting for? Visit the Entrepreneur Week website to learn more and register for one or more of these exciting events. Then, make your plans for what is shaping up to be a week filled with opportunities.
See you then!
